Entering the Fjord is an original painting inspired by the dramatic beauty of a mountain fjord. A lone sailing boat moves across deep blue-violet water, surrounded by towering peaks, changing light and a feeling of quiet adventure.
Story Behind the Painting
Entering the Fjord came from my imagination — an imaginary world of my own. I pictured a sailor travelling along a rugged coastline and discovering a quiet inlet leading into a small fjord, surrounded by snow-capped purple mountains. A full moon illuminates the peaks and creates a calm, mysterious atmosphere as the small sailing boat moves steadily into the unknown.
Although the boat appears small against the vast landscape, it continues forward with calmness and purpose. For me, the painting expresses mystery, beauty and quiet adventure. I built the work with many layers of paint and mixed media, allowing colours, textures and emotions to blend together. The shades of purple, violet and white invite each viewer to enter the scene and imagine their own story.
